Versatile dimensions of the artist Mik Simcic
The fact that he oscillated between the Mediterranean softness and the Northern rigor played a key role in the development of the artist-to-be from his early youth onward. His unbridled passion for artistic creativity found expression at the Academy of Sculpture and Painting and at the Academy of Film, Television and Theater, from which he graduated, thus earning there a double academic title.
As a freelance artist, he worked in the fields of sculpture, painting and theatre, which enabled him to take an active part in the cultural activities throughout the Europe. Among his numerous exhibitions in Slovenia he also carved the recollection of Juliet in Verona (Italy), created avant-garde theatrical performance at the Theater in Minsk (Belorussia),and presented himself with his artistic works in Rome (Italy), Zagreb (Croatia),Vienna (Austria), New York (USA), St. Juliens (Malta), London (UK) and Chemnitz (Germany), where he also created a monolithic sculpture of a woman – a symbol of worldwide friendship and establishment of friendly relations. For the opening the highest building in Slovenia, The Crystal Palace in BTC, he made monumental sculptures of stone, glass and bronze.
Encouraged by all of his international experience and success the artist is planning an ambitious international cultural and political project “Bridges of Trust” with a clearly defined idea of international networking, friendship, trust and new ethic.
He began the project by presenting himself to the U.S. First Family with a double oil portrait of Malia and Sasha, daughters of the U.S. President Obama, for which Mrs. Michelle Obama send him a letter of thanks with a handwritten signature and Dr. Jerome C. Ford, internationally active and recognized appraiser of works of art; the President of Items of Value, Inc; and the official appraiser of gifts given to the US First Family; commented to be »very exciting to look at and the faces exceedingly well done« and to find »Mik’s work absolutely superb, intriguing, and original«.
